About Rachelle

Rachelle Lawler is an abstract artist based in Sydney, with a practice grounded in her deep connection to the Australian landscape. Largely self-taught, she has also undertaken studies in abstract painting at The National Art School, photography at The Australian Centre for Photography, and interior design studies at Enmore Design Centre and Sydney Design School.
Born in Victoria, Australia, Rachelle’s childhood took her across Victoria and South Australia before her family settled in Perth, Western Australia. Her adventurous upbringing, filled with extensive travels across Australia, nurtured a love for documenting landscapes through painting and photography, a passion that grew from the memories created during those explorations. Drawing inspiration from Australia's vast outback and rugged coastal edges, Rachelle's works feature bold pigments and layered washes that convey a sense of movement and emotion. Her evolving use of colour and experimental techniques challenge traditional artistic techniques, with each piece representing a specific personal moment in time. Her works are held in private collections both across Australia and internationally.
In 2025, she was a finalist in the Burwood Art Prize.
With the insatiable desire to travel still in her blood, she continues to crisscross her way across Australia’s outback and coastal roads. Be it a weekend or a month, she’s always off on an adventure or in the midst of planning one, loving to be on the move, especially off the beaten track.
