About Rachelle
Born in Victoria, Australia, Rachelle’s childhood took her across Victoria and South Australia before her family settled in Perth, Western Australia. Her adventurous upbringing, filled with extensive travels across Australia, nurtured a love for documenting landscapes through painting and photography, a passion that grew from the memories created during those explorations.
After moving to Sydney in 1995, she honed her skills by studying photography at The National Art School and The Australian Centre for Photography, later expanding her creative expertise through studies in interior design at Enmore Design Centre and Sydney Design School.
Mostly self-taught, Rachelle’s life experiences are intricately woven into her abstract paintings, which balance the dynamic interplay between chaos and harmony. Drawing inspiration from Australia's vast outback and rugged coastal edges, Rachelle's works feature bold pigments and layered washes that convey a sense of movement and emotion. Her evolving use of color and experimental techniques challenge traditional artistic techniques, with each piece representing a specific personal moment in time.
Through her art, she strives to capture the spirit of the landscapes imprinted upon her, inviting viewers to delve into their own inner landscapes and connect with the timeless power of nature.
With the insatiable desire to travel still in her blood, she continues to crisscross her way across Australia’s outback and coastal roads. Be it a weekend or a month, she’s always off on an adventure or in the midst of planning one, loving to be on the move, especially off the beaten track.
